In the video we are shown the band together in a stereotypical boy-band music video layout (which is used ironically). I know this as the ideology behind the song is mocking boy bands and the music industry. The music video cuts from performance to narrative. When the video is showing narrative - that is when we see the non-diegetic material. During the audition scene subtitles are used across the bottom of the screen so that we can understand the people in the scene without it cutting over the music, which is also at this point non-diegetic.
This video contains all three elements of Bordwell and Thompson's theory, therefore proving it to be correct.
We also assume that a series of events happened for the band members to get to the audition scene. This is where the inferred events element to Bordwell and Thompson's theory comes in. We don't see the band wake up in the morning, get ready and arrive at the building - however we infer that this happened.
The explicitly shown events include everything that happens in the video as they are the events we are shown. All of these elements to Bordwell and Thompson's theory are correct and conventional of music videos.
